Why a Geography Club?

Geography is the one subject that touches everything — history, economics, climate science, politics, and the way people live. This club is a place to explore that, together.

Explore

Map challenges, guest talks, documentary nights, and trips. We dig into how the world actually fits together.

Compete

We train for national and international geography competitions — real stages where students represent their school and country.

Belong

No experience needed. Whether you love maps, travel, or trivia, there's a seat for you at the table.

International & national competitions

These are real competitions high schoolers can aim for. We'll train together and support anyone who wants to enter.

International

International Geography Olympiad (iGeo)

The premier annual competition for students aged 16–19. Three parts: a written test, a multimedia test, and a hands-on fieldwork exercise. Countries send teams of up to four.

United States Geography Olympiad

The main U.S. pathway to iGeo. Students compete through online and in-person rounds; top performers are selected for the U.S. national team.

National & regional quiz bowls

Many quiz bowl and academic competitions feature strong geography rounds — great practice and a way to compete locally between the big events.

Verify before you plan around these. Eligibility rules, dates, and entry deadlines change each year — always confirm on each competition's official website. (Note: the National Geographic GeoBee, once the best-known U.S. contest, was discontinued in 2021, so it's no longer a pathway.)
